In response to the letters from Matt O'Brien and Howard Oppegard regarding chronic letter writer Pam Hlady (letters, Jan.18), I say, "Bravo!" In fact, I would say that these gentlemen were too polite and easy on Hlady. Much more easy than I would be, that's for sure.
For months I, along with thousands and thousands of Forum readers, have had to wade through the radical extremist nonsense that this woman pollutes an otherwise legitimate opinion forum with. I can't help myself - I always give in and read her letters because I am curious to see if she can make a bigger fool of herself with each successive one, and she never fails.
Speaking for myself, I don't need anyone to tell me how to live my life - political, spiritual, or otherwise. My moral compass is pointed in the right direction, thank you very much. I don't need an intolerant, self-righteous windbag preaching to me about God. A person's spirituality and religion are nobody else's business. And to preach from such a high pedestal (like Hlady does) only reveals a sad, hypocritical person with no respect for the opinions, philosophies, and feelings of others.
I would be more than willing to accept Hlady's opinions if they weren't so extreme and unforgiving. Instead, I can only laugh at her and others of her ilk who set their causes back more with such arrogant and narrow-minded behavior. By the way, I am neither extreme left nor extreme right with my politics. I am somewhere in the middle, where I would bet a majority of Forum readers are, too.
Keep on writing, Ms. Hlady. We'll continue shaking our heads and ridiculing you.
