Jack Lin, in his letter attacking Intelligent Design ("ID") (Forum, June 4), claims that ID is "a mechanism to conform science to Christianity." What he fails to state is that the theory of evolution is a mechanism to conform science to atheism.
Evolution is as much a religious theory as intelligent design. It is the way atheists explain the creative profusion of life in the world without having to give God credit for it.
