Why argue about our reason for invading Iraq? The scandal is that we sent our troops to war without enough personnel or equipment to complete the job. We have never had strength on the ground to stabilize the country.
Telling the United Nations to get lost was stupid. Denying our troops adequate power, human or material (up-to-date body armor etc.) was inexcusable. Justified or not, the Bush War has been spectacularly mismanaged.
Handing over sovereignty on June 30 has nothing to do with creating a functioning nation in Iraq. It has everything to do with re-electing a failing president.
