I am an undecided voter who is still on the fence for the Fargo mayoral elections. With all these yard signs and billboards popping up, I have no choice but to start forming my opinion on what candidate suits our city the best.
I have never met the guy before, but the candidate that I am leaning toward is Brad Swenson. He has a very impressive resume, and he brings a new voice to city politics. The part about Swenson that appeals to me the most is his background as a federal prosecutor. Safety is the most important issue to me, and I believe a mayoral candidate like Swenson will work very closely with the police department to ensure this city remains one of the safest in the country. If safety gets jeopardized, then as far as I am concerned the city will go down the tubes. Safety must be a priority to every voter.
As Fargo continues to grow, additional resources will be needed to fund the needs of our police department so that they keep a strong handle on crime. A former federal prosecutor, like Swenson, is more likely to be tough on crime. Swenson will be more particular, and will also be more likely to appreciate the "windows theory" in which Fargo will have fewer big problems when police have the resources to tackle many of the little problems.
