On Sept. 21, more than 350 dedicated people joined forces to bring awareness to the devastating disease called Alzheimer's, which affects almost 5 million Americans. If we don't find a cure to this terminal illness in the near future, that number will climb to 14 million by 2040.
Many families, victims of Alzheimer's disease, professional caregivers, friends and their four-legged companions stepped out, and as a result of so many wonderful people and their dedication, over $45,000 was raised to support local family programs and services of the Minnesota-Dakota's Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
The Fargo/Moorhead Memory Walk Committee would like to thank everyone involved in our walk. From corporate sponsors, prize donors, volunteers, walkers and those of you who supported them with pledges.
We'd like to offer special thanks to our grand marshall, John Wheeler, and to our honorary chairman and chairwoman, Dr. Gary and Jana Christian. Their dedication to raising awareness about this disease touched and inspired so many.
