Does anyone remember what Dr. Martin Luther King strived for in this nation?
Natural disasters, like Hurricane Katrina, do not distinguish between rich or poor, black or white, etc.
Response to and cleaning up from Hurricane Katrina is not based upon race. Yes, our response was slow and somewhat unorganized, but no one expected this disaster's magnitude.
Our response is to help fellow Americans, period. Not black Americans, white Americans, etc. - just Americans.
Those who bring up race as an issue are just distracting from helping the people affected by Hurricane Katrina. We need to concentrate on helping those in need. Those who claim it's racial are looking to place blame and are acting like opportunistic individuals.

We need to take care of this disaster first and then improve our ability to respond. We need to come together as Americans and not worry about placing blame.
