I was encouraged when I read the story about the bus system trying to get direct routes to area campuses. I live in north Fargo and attend Minnesota State University Moorhead. I would much rather take the bus than drive, but I can't spend an hour on the bus trying to get to campus. If there was a way for me to get to MSUM in half the time I would gladly take advantage of the MAT system.
It would be ludicrous to have already cash-strapped students pay to park on the streets. The colleges already overbook parking permits and sometimes the only place to park is on the street. So, please do not give up on direct services to area colleges. Most importantly, do not start charging students to park on residential streets.
