I must say Congressman Dick Gephardt's visit to Fargo was quite impressive. The last time I attended a Democratic presidential hopeful coming to our state was Michael Dukakis. Then I was 9 years old, and Dukakis had a lot less on his plate. Now things are different, and the Democrats have a buffet of issues to deal with.

Being a Democrat these days should mean having a progressive attitude towards the environment, energy, trade and especially foreign policy. Gephardt seemed to definitely chant this mantra. With his anti-Bush attitude, he hammered away at the current administration and rightfully so. The Bush administration is clearly the worst in my lifetime. The only thing I would commend W on was his actions in the days following 9-11.

While working for Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., in Washington D.C., I got to meet President Bush at the White House. It was a swell experience, and I got some cool photos. Besides that, I really can't relate to the man or agree with him on most topics. Yes, I am a bleeding heart liberal. I don't think we ought not to share with the rest of society.

Ever since we were small children, our parents taught us to share. It's morally right. It's in our values. Over and over again, President Bush speaks of morals and values. This is where I find him and most spotlight conservatives hypocritical. They don't want to share. They're like the little rich kid brat you go to elementary school with.

Anyway I don't know if I'll vote for Gephardt, but the man does have the credentials and the intelligence to be president of the United States. It would be nice to see a Democrat in office take action instead of singing the same tune, and Gephardt seems to have the drive. There are many scoops of slop the Bush administration has served, and now it's time to clean the plate.
