I thought I would mention a very key change that will be taking place soon in our state's Commerce Department.

The "Prairie Voices" feature that Forum reporter Helmut Schmidt did on me found its way out to the state Department of Commerce. In that article, I mentioned my displeasure with the "less-expensive labor" push that was in the brochure that I received from the state. Well, Mike Strotheide, the vice president of Business Development, called me last Monday and asked me to point out exactly where in that brochure it mentioned the less-expensive labor comment. He informed me that his department is in charge of recruiting businesses and publishing that brochure and sending that brochure to prospects. He said they will change that statement in the brochure in their next publishing.

I was also told the article made its way to their desks out in Bismarck, pointing out the statement I made about our state promoting less-expensive labor. It looks like the "Saving North Dakota" series is making a difference already.

Thanks for doing such a great job on that series, too. It's really getting the point across to the masses.

I can't wait to see what the live roundtable will do.
