I certainly agree that high school debaters in North Dakota should not be allowed to argue the role of intelligent design in high school science classrooms. We must protect these students at all costs. They may be bright and articulate, but we must not expose them to controversy.
Furthermore, the debate might offend some parents. Debates should be limited to subjects that don't offend anyone. I suggest a debate about whether the Earth is round or flat. Another subject might be whether pigs have wings.
What do the other 49 states that allow the ID debate know anyway? They don't know how to protect their students, that's what. After all, our North Dakota students are the future of this state. Keep them ignorant. When ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise. Ignorance (like cleanliness) is next to godliness. We all know that.
Don't learn. Don't debate. Don't question. Above all, don't upset anyone. Keep North Dakota nice. And keep North Dakota a state which makes us proud.
