I am 10 and go to South Elementary in fifth grade. Every day I walk to school. I don't understand why people don't stop for me and my friend when we walk to and from school on Sheyenne and Seventh Street when we walk on the crosswalk. There are a lot of yield signs and no one ever stops.
I live with my grandma and she wants me to be as safe as possible, but when I am crossing to go to school I am right in the middle of the crosswalk and we are caught in the middle with cars going around us and it gets very scary.
The city and county gets a lot of money every day from the taxpayers and I think they should use that money to pay for things like a push button crosswalk like they use in the big cities. I think they should also use that money to pay for stoplights on Sheyenne and Seventh Street.
Most people don't care about stopping because they are rushing to work or bringing their kids to school, but I think they should care and think about everyone else's safety.
