Traditions are important in the Midwest and traditions continue forming each year at the Fraser, Ltd. Festival of Trees.
As we complete the sixth year of the Fraser, Ltd. Festival, I marvel at the friendships created by the coming together of volunteers to help provide Christmas trees to approximately 140 families in our community who would otherwise not have a tree for the holidays. The event, which began in 2001, has reached 688 families over the past six years.
Volunteers are the key which ignites the spark that fuels the energy required to meet not only the need to supply trees but also generates the special event held the first Saturday in December. "To All a Good Night", is packed full of volunteer entertainment from the community and surrounding areas. Contributions from the Fargo/Moorhead business communities are most gracious and supportive, allowing FRASER, LTD. to advertise our sponsors and entertain families in our community.
Without these fine people the Fraser, Ltd. Festival of Trees could not create the family traditions which bring countless people together each year to create beautifully adorned trees, and bring hope and happiness to their neighbor.
It has also been a tremendously rewarding event for Fraser, Ltd. staff who volunteer their time and talents. Each year staff spend countless hours of their personal time attending to details which make the event top notch. Each year we wipe away more than a few tears when the trees are given away.
