In reference to the article, "Ternes appointed interim chief," dated Dec. 6: The question to be asked is: What does a personal matter between two consenting adults have to do with performance of a position as the chief of the police department?
There are some that have to stick their nose in everybody's business based on their narrow religious beliefs. Ternes has nothing to apologize about. What he did is his own business. As a 19-year veteran of the police department, surely he is capable of being chief.
Religious fanatics as Martin Wishnatsky who use their faith to defend their hatred and bigotry, and bestow their will on others who do not share their beliefs should best stay out of matters that don't concern them.
Ternes will have my vote to be the next chief.
