Terry Richardson letter: Military night at game appreciated

I attended the RedHawks game at Newman Field June 26. The evening was promoted as Military Appreciation Night. The RedHawks donated tickets to active military, Guard, Reserve and veterans organizations.

The team was dressed in special camouflage jerseys that were even more appropriate for the evening. The jerseys were sold in a silent auction, with all proceeds donated to the construction of signs for the Veterans Memorial Bridge. The auction was a great success, and this was an excellent way to kick off our fundraising activities for the bridge signs.

The RedHawks' fans were ecstatic about that auction and the thought of getting the rare camouflage jersey.

Our color guards from the community were there in force and did a superb job commanded by Commander Rice presenting the flag before the game.

Like always, the game is well organized, fun for the whole

family and a reasonably priced activity.

My sincere thanks go out to Bruce Thom and Megan Selic and to all the employees of the RedHawks organization. A special thank you to the players and to the fans of the RedHawks for letting the veterans participate and enjoy one of the most patriotic events of the year, Military Appreciation Night at the RedHawks.
