I believe we have a problem here. I recently learned that the going salary for a "mosquito czar" in Cass County is $40k+. I'm not sure what the starting salary for a Cass County deputy is, but I'd be hard pressed to believe that it is much over $30k.
Please don't get me wrong, I realize skeeters are a "very serious" problem, but so is meth! Does it make any sense at all to pay someone $40k+/year to combat a bug, then turn around and pay someone $30k/year to protect and serve the citizens of Cass County and combat the growing meth problem or am I missing something?
