The hype surrounding the North Dakota State Bison opener against Stephen F. Austin was palpable in the weeks leading up to the game: Talks of a sellout crowd at the Fargodome and the first time a regional television audience would have the opportunity to see the Bison on Fox Sports Net North.
The NDSU Alumni Association was even excited enough to send out cards to myself and a dozen or so of mine who also reside in the Twin Cities to remind us to tune in on Saturday night. It is well known that more NDSU graduates reside in the Twin Cities than any other place outside of Fargo.
What FSN North forgot to mention was they were planning on blacking out the game locally. No warning of the blackout was given, as all the on-screen guides indicated the Bison would be on. It was only a desperate plea to Comcast to add FSN Pacific to our cable package for the evening that saved our well planned night of Twin Cities' Bison support as the second half was being kicked off.
