WEST FARGO — After a summer with no fair food, rides or 4-H competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Red River Valley Fair is back for 2021.

The RRVF opened Friday, July 9, and will run through July 18 with the midway opening at noon Friday through Sunday and at 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Closing time will be determined each night by the carnival and crowd size.

RRVF CEO Cody Cashman said July 9 that fair attendance was already rolling in and keeping staff busy. He hopes for mild weather to continue throughout the fair's 10 days.

The fair's annual concert series at the grandstand stage will also begin Friday with rock band Skillet taking the stage.

Saturday, July 10, country crooner Chris Young will perform followed by rock band Styx on Sunday and Monster Trucks taking over the grandstand area on Monday, July 12.

Tuesday, July 13, Hardy will perform; Hairball will perform Wednesday, July 14; Lonestar is slated for Thursday July 15. Weekend performers will be Ratt, Quiet Riot and Kix on Friday, July 16, and Trace Adkins on Saturday, July 17.

The fair will wrap up Sunday, July 18, with auto racing.

Grandstand tickets include gate admission the day of the show, and tickets will need to be scanned at the fair entrance the day of attendance.

Gates open at 6 p.m. for the grandstand shows, and showtimes are 8 p.m., except the monster truck show, which will begin at 7 p.m.

Free entertainment with the Ninja Experience, swine races and STEM Center will also be scattered throughout the fair. Performances will also be held on the free Petro Serve stage.

General admission for the fair is $12 for ages 12 and up, $6 for ages 6 – 11 and free for children under ages 5 and under.

On Monday, July 12, carnival rides will be $1 per ride all day and gate admission $1 per person. Tuesday, July 13, gate admission will be $15 for all ages above 5, but admission will include an unlimited ride wristband. On Wednesday, July 14, unlimited rides will be available for $10 off with the donation of three nonperishable food items at the gate.

Thursday, July 15, is BOGO daily ride pass: buy one daily ride pass, get one free.
