Semi loaded with pork catches fire on I-29, destroying goods and slowing traffic

The fire was contained to the semi trailer and no injuries were reported. The load of pork in the trailer was deemed a total loss.

FARGO—A fire stranded a semi trailer on the southbound Interstate 29 roadside just south of 13th Ave. S. Sunday morning, Nov. 28, slowing mid-morning traffic.

According to a statement, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, North Dakota Highway Patrol, Fargo Fire Department, West Fargo Rural Fire, and West Fargo Fire responded to a vehicle fire just after 5 a.m.

The fire was contained to the semi trailer and no injuries were reported. The load of pork in the trailer was deemed a total loss.

North Dakota Highway Patrol was still at the scene around 10 a.m., assisting with diverting traffic as crews worked to clear the semi trailer from the roadway.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
