FARGO — A software malfunction at a the North Dakota Department of Health's COVID-19 lab resulted in 181 positive tests being marked inconclusive.
The affected tests took place between Dec. 25 and Jan. . The people who the tests belong to were notified of the error.
The joint information center said a problem with the software on a piece of lab equipment that interprets the data caused the error.
Lab workers manually review all of the data and caught the problem that affected two batches of tests. They plan to increase the frequency of their maintenance and software verification on lab equipment.
