FARGO - Race week has arrived in Fargo for the 15th edition of the Sanford Fargo Marathon.
The race has become a weeklong event, beginning Monday with the Cyclothon, then continues with the FurGo Dog Run on Tuesday. The youth run takes to the streets on Thursday, followed by the 5K on Friday.
The 10K, half-marathon and marathon conclude things on Saturday.
Race director Mark Knutson says the marathon course had to be changed a few weeks ago after seeing how high the Red River was after April's flood. That meant the parts of the course that were along with the Red, mostly the walking trails needed to be removed from the course.
Last year the course went thru Oak Grove, Trefoil and Lindenwood Parks. All of those have been removed from this year's race.
Race coverage begins Saturday at 7 am on WDAY Xtra and streaming at Inforum.com.
