2020 WDAY Fall Camp Tour: Kindred Vikings

Kindred Football Huddle

KINDRED-- The WDAY Fall Camp Tour heads to Kindred High School. The Vikings will host Central Cass on Inforum.com on Friday, October 2nd. The Vikings are much younger than their team that went 7-3 a year ago. They return only four starters in 2020.

“This is a new team, this is a young team and so really right now they’re focused on getting better every day and kind of learning the system on what it means and what it takes to be a varsity football player, but they’re getting there,” said Kindred Head Coach Matt Crane.

The Vikings went 7-2 during the regular season last year, but were shut out in the first round of playoffs to Bismarck St. Mary’s. With nearly an entire new roster suiting up this year, now all eyes are on the future of this program.

“Losing is never easy, we plan and we prepare to win every single game and that was a game we didn’t play very well in but these kids are ready to rebound and answer the bell for this season,” said Crane.

Now the season is in the hands of junior Quarterback Max McQuillan.

“I’m looking forward to that Friday Night Lights, you know with this being my first time starting on the field so it’s going to be an awesome experience and it’s going to be really hyped,” said McQuillan.

“He’s doing great, he’s a terrific leader and he’s just taking the team on his back right now calling the offense. He looks sharp right now, he looks really good,” said Crane.

Despite the new look to this year’s team, the Vikings have high expectations for the season and do not want to be overlooked.

“Last year we lost a lot of seniors, they were basically our whole line except for a few, so we really have to step up really hard and be ready for that,” said senior Max Vikander.

“I like the challenge, I like being the leader and I’m excited to help them out as they grow after I leave. But I’m excited for this season we’re going to be good,” said senior Ethan McKenney.

The Vikings open their season at Northern Cass this Friday at 7:00 p.m.
