FARGO - The connection of Aidan Hartness to Tristan Hartness resulted in plenty of yards during the football season.

Tuesday, Hartness to Hartness resulted in two goals during Fargo Davies' 5-2 East Region boys hockey victory over Fargo North at Scheels Arena.

Tristan Hartness scored two goals and Aidan Hartness scored one goal on top of three assists - two of which were to his brother.

The Hartness twins - playing in their junior seasons - make up two-thirds of Davies' top line, which is rounded out by senior forward Bryan Pallen, who entered Tuesday as the leading scorer in the East Region.

"That line has been very explosive early on this season," Davies head coach Brian Davidson said. "All three of them are unselfish players. They always get the puck to the open man."

Both Tristan and Aidan had breakout football seasons for Davies with Aidan handling the quarterback duties and Tristan playing wide receiver. The pair connected 31 times for 675 yards and six touchdowns.

The transition to the rink this winter has been seamless.

Tristan Hartness scored both of his goals in the first period. Pallen added a goal - his fourth of the season - in the second period to give the Eagles (4-0-0, 3-0-0 East Region) a 3-1 lead.

"The potential is definitely there," Tristan Hartness said of the Eagles' top line. "We always seem to find each other on the ice and we have good chemistry."

Aidan Hartness' goal was the turning point of the game.

Davies went on a power play late in the second period, but North nearly tied the game at 3-3 when senior forward Spencer Helming had a 2-on-1 shorthanded shot attempt deflect wide.

Seconds later Aidan Hartness, who alertly advanced the puck in open ice, was celebrating a goal.

"It took all the momentum they would have had coming out of that opportunity," Davidson said. "They didn't even get a chance to feel good about that chance. We transitioned well down the ice and that was good to see."

North's goals were scored by Helming and senior forward Alex Samek.

"North is a good team," Davidson said. "They grind. Those games are good for us to play."

Senior forward Chase Bischof also scored a goal for the Eagles. Senior goaltender Alex Kruger stopped 16 shots in net for Davies.
