The Sam Houston State player whose low hit likely ended a key North Dakota State player’s season sent Bison coaches a text message apologizing for the tackle, saying it was not meant to be a dirty play.
NDSU likely lost both its starting cornerbacks and dynamic running back Ty Brooks to season-ending injuries in the Bison’s 55-13 FCS semifinal victory over Sam Houston State at the Fargodome Friday night, according to head coach Chris Klieman.
Junior cornerbacks Jalen Allison and Jaylaan Wimbush suffered knee injuries. Brooks, a sophomore from Fargo South, dislocated his shoulder, Klieman said.
They will likely not be able to play in the FCS championship game Jan. 6, 2018, in Frisco, Texas. Klieman said he believed all three players were done for the year at his postgame press conference Friday night and confirmed the information Saturday morning on 970 WDAY radio with Jeff Kolpack of The Forum and Dom Izzo of WDAY-TV.
