Dougherty steps down as North-South girls hockey coach
FARGO—Fargo North-South girls hockey coach Kris Dougherty has chosen to step down from his coaching position.
Dougherty is currently pursuing a graduate degree in education and also has children, ages 10 and 7. He stated that he is looking forward to the opportunity to be more available to be a part of their activities.
Dougherty, who has coached hockey for the past 20 years, began his tenure as the Fargo North girls head coach with the 2009 — 2010 season and became the head coach of the Fargo North-South co-op when it formed prior to the 2014-2015 season. During that time, his teams amassed a record of 138-84-5-4, which includes a state championship in 2011 and two state runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2018.
Dougherty also is a social studies teacher and assistant football coach at Fargo North and will remain in those positions.
