FARGO -- The Moorhead Spuds boys lacrosse program is only two years old, but it can now call itself Class 8A Section champs after defeating Buffalo 11-7 in the Section championship Wednesday.

The Spuds trailed 5-4 late in the third before rattling off five-unanswered goals within about 10 minutes of game time. The Bison scored two goals late in the fourth, but it was not enough.

After weather caused delays for Class A State golf on Tuesday, Wednesday brought the drama as the individual championship went to a playoff hole between Red River's Zach Hinschberger and Minot's Gavin Argent. Argent emerged victorious, defeating Hinschberger by one stroke.

On the team side, West Fargo Sheyenne captured its first golf team title in school history, defeating three-time defending champion Grand Forks Red River by three strokes.
