Two North Dakotans heading to Special Olympics World Games

GRAND FORKS - Cindy Schopper of Valley City and Jan Moser of Mandan will represent North Dakota and the United States at the Special Olympics World Games to be held March 14-21 in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Special Olympics USA, is comprised of 218 athletes, 63 coaches and approximately 34 delegation members who support team operations. Team members will compete in 17 of the 24 sports offered: athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, cycling, equestrian, golf, artistic gymnastics, rhythimic gymnastics, powerlifting, sailing, soccer, swimming, table tennis, tennis, triathlon, and volleyball.

Moser will compete in bowling. Schopper, who has been involved with Special Olympics since 1995, is her coach.

Moser was a member of Team North Dakota volleyball team that won a gold medal in the 2006 Special Olympics USA Games and bronze medal in the 2010 USA Games. Moser earned a silver medal in bowling in the 2014 USA Games.
