BISMARCK - The reign continues.

For the second year in a row, Grand Forks Red River walked away with all of the first-place hardware at the boys tennis state tournament.

One day after capturing their 15th consecutive team state championship, the Roughriders added singles and doubles titles to their collection Saturday at Capital Racquet and Fitness Center.

Andre Caoili and Jake Kuhlman picked up Red River's sixth straight doubles crown, defeating Century's Joe Janes and Sam Mastel in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

Later, Joey Anderson topped teammate Greg Wischer, 6-2, 6-2, for the singles championship.

Caoili, a junior, and Kuhlman, an eighth-grader, had a perfect run to the state title, posting four straight-set victories in their four matches.

They didn't lose after being paired up midway through the season.

"We started spending more time hitting together in practice and the coaches thought we would make a good doubles team," Caoili said.

Fargo North's Andy Ficek, who finished fourth in the singles tournament, was named senior athlete of the year.

West Fargo's Brady Ballweber defeated Ficek 6-4,

7-6 (7-5) in the third-place match.

His coach, Greg Unruh, was named coach of the year, but Unruh chose not to accept the award and instead gave it to Red River's Greg LaDouceur, who was honored as the National Coach of the Year last summer.
