North Dakota State graduate Amanda Smock came up short this morning in her attempt to qualify for the finals of the triple jump at the Olympic Summer Games in London.
Smock finished 27th out of 33 competitors. The top 12 qualify for Sunday's finals. Smock's best jump of three was 13.61 meters.
Smock, a Melrose, Minn., native who turned 30 on July 27, was the lone American qualifier in the triple jump.

Olga Rypakova of Kazakhstan had the day's best jump at 14.79 meters.
