Bantam hockey: Fargo Angels win first state A title

Fargo defeated Devils Lake 6-1 to earn the organization's first North Dakota Bantam State A Championship.

The Fargo Angels defeated Devils Lake 6-1 in the North Dakota Bantam State A Championship at West Fargo Sports Arena.

It's the Angels' first Bantam A championship. Landon Meier, Boden Meier and Foster Lord all had a goal and an assist and Cail Astrup added two assists. Goalie Merik Grinaker made 20 saves.

The Angels reached the championship game defeating Grand Forks Red 8-0 in the quarterfinals, then downing the Fargo Freeze 4-1 in the semifinals.

In the tournament, Landon Meier led the team in scoring with 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists), followed by Boden Meier (4 goals, 1 assist) and Astrup (1 goal, 4 assists). Grinaker stopped 50 shots in the three games.

The Angels' roster included Griffin Cassola, Jack Hofer, Fisher Hannesson, Mayson Hjermstad, Cail Astrup, Merik Grinaker, Boden Meier, Landon Meier, Landon Hale, Gus Elbert, Christian Storey, Quinn Miller, Arryn Dilger, and Foster Lord. The Angels are coached by Christian Berg and Christian Hansen.
