Grand Forks Central 15, Fargo Davies 12
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — Top-seeded Grand Forks Central kept its state tournament chances alive by defeating fifth-seeded Fargo Davies in the North Dakota East Region tournament consolation semifinals on Thursday.
Joey Grabanski went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and five RBIs to lead the Knights. Parker Stroh went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs and three RBIs.
Cole Hage finished with two hits, including a two-run home run, with two runs and four RBIs to pace Davies. Ben Callies went 2-for-3 with two walks, a run and an RBI.
The Eagles finished the season with an overall record of 10-10. Central (13-5) will take on Fargo Shanley in a state qualifier game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
West Fargo 4, Grand Forks Red River 3
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — The No. 6 seed West Fargo Packers edged second seed Grand Forks Red River in the Eastern Dakota Conference tournament consolation semifinals.
Brayden Jacobson went 3-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and two runs. He also picked up the save, going 2 2/3 innings with a pair of strikeouts. Adison Krank was the winning pitcher. He lasted 4 2/3 innings, striking out five.
West Fargo (16-9) will play Devils Lake in a state qualifier at noon Saturday. Red River finished the season with an 11-6 overall record.
Fargo North 8, Devils Lake 2
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — No. 8 seed Fargo North secured its spot in the state tournament with the Spartans win over No. 4 seed Devils Lake in the EDC championship semifinals.
Peyton Fisher, Dan Christianson and Joe Boutain each had two RBIs for North. Tyler Thrash surrendered four hits and struck out three in a complete-game effort.
North (12-10) advances to the EDC title game, where the Spartans will face Shanley/Sheyenne at 5 p.m. Saturday. The Firebirds (14-8) will play West Fargo in a state qualifier at noon Saturday.
West Fargo Sheyenne 5, Fargo Shanley 4 (9 innings)
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — Third-seeded West Fargo Sheyenne edged No. 7 seed Shanley in extra innings in the East Region championship semifinals.
Shanley led 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, before Ryan Froemke hit a leadoff solo home run to tie it for the Mustangs. Froemke also picked up the win on the mound.
Sheyenne (15-9) clinched a berth to the state tournament and will play Fargo North for the EDC championship at 5 p.m. Saturday. Shanley (11-7) is slated to face Grand Forks Central in a state qualifier at 2 p.m. Saturday.
