FARGO — Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks slugger Chris Jacobs led a sixth-inning rout that lifted the RedHawks to an 11-5 win over Sioux City on Wednesday in a seven-inning American Association baseball game at Newman Outdoor Field.
Jacobs unloaded the bases with a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning to spark the RedHawks' rally in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Leobaldo Pina, Brennan Metzger and Tim Colwell each followed Jacobs with RBIs to give the RedHawks an 11-4 lead entering the top of the seventh.
Metzger finished 5-for-5 with a run and two RBIs to lead F-M. T.J. Bennett hit his sixth homer this season, finishing the game with two runs and two RBIs.
The RedHawks (33-17) trailed the Explorers (24-25) 3-0 in the top of the fourth in Game 2 when this version of The Forum went to press.
