GARY, Ind.-The Gary SouthShore RailCats swept the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Thursday in an American Association baseball doubleheader at U.S. Steel Yard in front of 2,876 fans.
Gary beat the RedHawks 4-3 in the first game and 3-0 (7 innings) in Game 2.
In Game 1, Andy DeJesus drove in Alex Crosby with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning. DeJesus led Gary with three hits, a run and an RBI.
RedHawks designated hitter Chris Jacobs went 2-for-4 including his 13th home run of the season to pace the RedHawks in the first game. Tim Colwell and Quinn Irey also each drove in a run.
RailCats starting pitcher Peyton Sanderlin (1-0) gave up three hits with a walk and five strikeouts through five shutout innings to earn the win in Game 2.
All three of the RedHawks hits in the second game were doubles off the bats of Brennan Metzger, Chris Jacobs and Charlie Valerio.
F-M starter Reese Gregory (3-4) gave up three earned runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts through six innings to pick up the loss.
The RedHawks (47-42) are now 5 1/2 games behind St. Paul for first place in the North Division.
