Fargo Shanley 16, 15 Grand Forks Central 7, 1

GRAND FORKS — Fargo Shanley raced past Grand Forks Central in a road Eastern Dakota Conference doubleheader Friday night.

The Knights led after the first inning of the first game, however the Deacons quickly responded with a four-run second inning. The dam broke in the top of the fifth inning when Shanley scored nine runs. As a team, Shanley recorded 20 hits.

Cooper Mattern and Tommy Simon both had four hits in the first game. Mattern had four RBIs and Simon drove home two.

In the second game, the Deacons took a commanding lead early, leading 10-0 after the second inning. Simon had a solid showing on the mound, surrendering two hits and striking out eight through four innings. Calvin Clasen tallied two hits and two RBIs in the second game.

Shanley rose to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in the EDC. GFC dropped to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the EDC.

Fargo Davies 14, 15, Fargo North 10, 3

FARGO — Davies took down North for an EDC doubleheader sweep.

Game 1 was a hit-fest, with the teams combining for 25 hits, six of which went for extra bases.

Davies’ Truman Werremeyer homered and drove in four runs. Blake Schluchter was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Kobe Senn and Colten Alme both had three hits and combined to drive in four runs.

North’s Will Bachman had two hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs. Connor Holm was 3-for-5.

Ben Callies had two RBIs, scored four runs and drew four walks for Davies in Game 2. Easton Rerick scored twice and had two RBIs, while Eli Mach drove in two more runs. Ethan Claus and Victor Cyr each had three hits.

West Fargo Sheyenne 7, 13 Devils Lake 0, 3

WEST FARGO — West Fargo Sheyenne’s Nolan Dodds pitched a two-hitter in a Game 1 win and the Mustangs had three four-run innings in the second game of a doubleheader against Devils Lake.

In the second game, Grant Warkenthien had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for Sheyenne (10-2, 3-0 EDC). Quade Peters had two hits and an RBI, Evan Berg singled and drove in a pair and Alex Urlaub doubled and drove in a run.

In the first game, Dodds allowed the two hits and walked three while striking out six. Sheyenne’s Lance Oster and Tate Gustafson both had two hits and six Mustangs had RBI.

Moorhead 8, Alexandria 6

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. — The Spuds downed Alexandria in eight innings for their third win this season.

Jake Thielke went 3-for-4 with a run and three RBIs to pace the Spuds. Will Kunka, Carson Zimmel, David Lindell and Brett Letness each drove in one run for Moorhead. Jacob Hendrickson tallied two hits and scored two runs.

Moorhead rose to 3-6 overall, while Alexandria fell to 5-4.

West Fargo 7, 4, Wahpeton 0, 2

WAHPETON, N.D. — Jaden Grefsrud fired a three-hitter in Game 1 and three of his West Fargo teammates no-hit Wahpeton in the second game as the Packers swept a doubleheader on Friday.

In the second game, West Fargo (9-8, 2-3 EDC) pitchers Matt Heupel and winner Logan Vangerud both went two innings and Tanner Larson pitched the fifth. Both Wahpeton (3-7, 1-3) runs were unearned.

Jordan Burchill was 2-for-3 and Carter Birrenkott and Tyler Rued both doubled and drove in runs.

In Game 1, Grefsrud went all seven innings, didn’t allow a walk and struck out eight. Brayden Jacobson doubled twice and Heupel had a hit and two RBIs.

Fargo South 5, 10, Valley City 4, 0

FARGO — Fargo South won a nailbiter, then won big in a doubleheader against Valley City on Friday.

In Game 2, South’s Ozzie Egan went the distance, allowing three hits and striking out seven in the six-inning game. Anthony Erickson and Kolby Nissen both had two hits, including triples, and Erickson drove in two runs. Ben Montplaisir was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored three.

In the first game, South overcame an early deficit scoring four runs in the middle innings and then tamping down a Valley City rally in the seventh.

South’s Braydon Dettling was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Montplaisir doubled and drove in a run and Nissen singled and had an RBI.

Valley City is 0-9 overall and 0-6 in the EDC. South is 4-6 overall and 3-2 in the EDC.
