COLD SPRING, Minn. — No. 2 seed Buffalo tallied a 3-2 nine-inning win over the fifth-seeded Moorhead Spuds on Saturday in the Minnesota Class 4A, Section 8 baseball tournament.
The Spuds ended their season with a 10-12 overall record.
Riley Swenson had a hit and drove in two runs to lead Moorhead. Zach Taft, Carson Zimmel and Jake Thielke each added a Spuds hit, while Zimmel and Jacob Hendrickson each scored a run.
Swenson and Zimmel each pitched for the Spuds. Swenson went four innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Zimmel gave up one unearned run on one hit with four strikeouts and five walks through 4 2/3 innings.
Buffalo advanced to play Elk River at 6 p.m. Monday.
