WEST FARGO — Solid pitching and 17 runs were the deciding factors in the West Fargo Patriots' Legion baseball doubleheader against the Grand Forks Royals on Wednesday.
The Patriots won the second game 10-1 after taking the opener 7-0.
In Game 1, Casey Clemenson fired a two-hitter and Evan Berg was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI. Quade Peters was 2-for-4 with a triple and he scored two runs. Alex Urlaub was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Brayden Jacobson, Lance Oster and Drew Clouse all had hits and RBI.
Clemenson went all seven innings, allowing just the two hits. He walked one and struck out nine.
In Game 2, Anthony Villanueva was 3-for-4 with a double and he drove in three runs, and Peters was 3-for-3 and drove in two runs. Cooper Borchardt had a hit and an RBI.
Jacobson got the win, going five innings and allowing a run on two hits. He walked two and struck out five. Brennan Haman allowed two hits in two scoreless innings and struck out one.
