GENEVA, Ill. — Kane County starter Tyler Viza was dominant in the Cougars' 2-0 win over Fargo-Moorhead on Tuesday before 4,861 at Northwestern Medicine Field.

Viza went this distance, allowing six hits, no walks and striking out 11. All the RedHawks' hits were singles, only twice did they advance a runner to second base and twice had baserunners erased on double plays.

The RedHawks had been piling up runs before running into Viza, averaging 8.2 runs per game in their last seven and they entered the game averaging 6.6 for the season.

Bret Helton pitched well in the loss, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out four in seven innings. Reliever Davis Feldman worked a scoreless eighth, allowing a hit and striking out two. Jordan George had two hits and John Silviano, Correlle Prime, Manny Boscan and Kevin Krause had F-M's other hits.

The Cougars and RedHawks play the second of a three-game set at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Northwestern Medicine Field.
