FERGUS FALLS — The Moorhead Blues and Bemidji will need a second game to decide the Legion Sub-State 14 championship after the previously undefeated Blues lost 8-1 on Saturday.
It's the same score of the Blues' win over Bemidji on Friday that forced Post 14 to play twice on Saturday. Bemidji defeated Detroit Lakes 13-12 in an elimination game earlier on Saturday to get another shot at Moorhead.
The teams play for the title at noon Sunday, July 25, in Fergus Falls.
Bemidji starter Brandon Lussier held the Blues down throughout the game, going 6-2/3 innings and allowing an unearned run on five hits. He walked two and struck out seven. Sawyer Nendick relieved and got the final out.
Lussier also was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs and Aaron Heger had two hits and drove in three runs.
Moorhead's Quentin Hegg was 2-for-4 and Ryan Luthi, Holden Kinnert and Zach Taft had the Blues' other hits.
