MANDAN, N.D. — A sturdy outing from West Fargo's Casey Clemenson helped spark the No. 1 seed Patriots to a 4-1 victory over No. 4 seed Bismarck on Wednesday in the North Dakota Class 2A American Legion state baseball tournament at Veterans Memorial Ballpark.

Clemenson struck out eight and didn't walk anyone, while giving up one earned run on three hits in a complete-game effort. His lone blemish in the runs column came from a solo home run by Bismarck's Isaac Pegors.

Brennan Haman had two hits for the Patriots. Drew Clouse tallied one hit and one RBI and Evan Berg drove in a run via sacrifice fly. Brayden Jacobson and Alex Urlaub each had a hit and a run scored.

West Fargo advanced to play Fargo Post 400 at 5 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals. Bismarck will face Fargo Post 2 at 2 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals.
