MANDAN, N.D. — A fast start helped the No. 7 seed Fargo Post 400 Stars take down the No. 1 seed West Fargo Patriots 7-4 in the North Dakota Class 2A American Legion state baseball tournament at Veterans Memorial Ballpark on Thursday.
Post 400 grabbed an early lead, plating four runs in the top of the first inning. The Patriots answered with three runs in the third, but never took the lead.
Post 400 cracked 12 hits as a team, with Caden Graf and Andy Mach each recording two hits and two RBIs. Colten Alme got the win for Fargo, allowing four runs off nine hits through six innings.
Brayden Jacobson paced West Fargo with two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs.
Post 400 advances to play No. 4 seed Bismarck at 5 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. West Fargo will play No. 3 seed Minot at 2 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
