FARGO — Fargo-Moorhead jumped out to a six-run lead in the first two innings and defeated Kansas City 9-6 on Monday before 2,600 at Newman Outdoor Field.

Jordan George and Leo Pina drove in first inning runs. In the second, Manny Boscan singled in a run, Leo Pina doubled in a run and George doubled in Boscan and Pina to make it 6-0. The RedHawks upped the lead to 7-0 on John Silviano's solo home run in the fifth.

The Monarchs began chipping away with a run in the sixth and two runs in both the seventh and the eighth. The RedHawks' Correlle Prime got one back with a solo homer in the eighth.

Prime was 4-for-5 with the homer and he scored four runs. George had two hits and drove in three and Pina doubled twice and drove in two runs. Boscan had two hits and scored twice.

After F-M's Jon Ludwig pitched the first inning, Austin Ver Steeg relieved and went five, allowing a run on three hits to get the win.
