GREELEY, Colo. — The North Dakota State baseball team fell 2-1 and then cruised to an 11-5 victory over Northern Colorado on Wednesday in a nonconference doubleheader at Jackson Stadium.
Game 1 was a quick, 1 hour, 53 minutes game that featured seven total hits. Peter Brookshaw drove in NDSU's lone run by reaching first base on an error. Jake Malec scored.
Jack Pauley had two RBIs to lead the Bears (2-7).
Contrary to the first game, Game 2 lasted nearly three hours and featured 23 hits, 15 of which belonged to the Bison.
Brookshaw again led the way, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Hunter Koep blasted a solo home run, his first of the season, in the fifth inning. Koep also had an RBI double. Alec Abercrombie knocked in two runs with a seventh-inning triple to cap the scoring for NDSU.
The Bison (2-8) next have a four-game series against Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, Miss., March 8-10.
