BISMARCK — A fast start against Bismarck Legacy helped West Fargo Sheyenne shake off an early loss and earn a split in its first baseball series Friday.
Following a 3-0 loss to Bismarck Century in the day’s first game, the Mustangs put four runs on the board in the third inning en route to a 5-1 win over the Sabers in game two.
After driving in the day’s first run the previous inning, Grant Warkenthein drove in two more on a single in the third.
Alex Urlaub and Cooper Borchardt also had RBIs, while Ryan Reynolds scored two runs. Lance Oster, Reynolds and Urlaub combined to allow just one run and six hits with six strikeouts on the mound.
In the opener, Century scored all three of its runs in the first inning and kept the Mustangs off the scoreboard the entire way.
Carter Dodd had two of the Mustangs’ five hits. Sheyenne stranded 10 runners in the game.
