FARGO — Hillsboro-Central Valley downed Fargo Oak Grove in North Dakota Class B girls basketball to open the season Tuesday night.

Morgan Niemiller led the Grovers with 17 points. Jetta Mevold followed with nine points.

Saige Forseth and Abby Magnuson each scored 13 points to pace the Burros.

H-CV moved to 1-0, while Oak Grove fell to 0-1.

Moorhead Park Christian 65, Win-E-Mac 35

ERSKINE, Minn. — Park Christian rolled to its first victory this season as the Falcons cruised by Win-E-Mac in Minnesota girls basketball.

Park Christian standout Karley Motschenbacher tallied 21 points, nine rebounds, three assists and four steals to lead the way. Eden Tofibam tallied 11 points, three boards and three steals, while Avery Aakre chipped in seven points.

Lindsey Espeseth scored 15 points to pace Win-E-Mac.

Park Christian improved to 1-1 this season, while W-E-M dropped to 0-3.

Buffalo 52, Moorhead 48

BUFFALO, Minn. — A late rally came up short as Moorhead fell to Buffalo Tuesday night in Minnesota girls basketball.

The Spuds trailed by 12 points, but the visitors rallied behind Samantha Zimmerman to narrow the gap. Zimmerman led all players with 17 points, adding 11 rebounds. Rylie Polomny followed with 13 points and five boards.

Buffalo’s Lauren Feddema paced the hosts with 22 points.

Buffalo improved to 2-2 on the season. Moorhead dropped to 1-1.


Moorhead 85, Brainerd 75

MOORHEAD — Drew Hagen dropped 22 points to lead the Spuds to a season-opening win over Brainerd in Minnesota boys basketball.

Quentin Hegg scored 18 points for the Spuds (1-0) and Brady Walthall followed with 17. Blake Walthall was the fourth Spud to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points.

Conner Powers paced Brainerd (0-1) with 21 points, while Griffin Rushin scored 20.

Moorhead Park Christian 77, Win-E-Mac 57

MOORHEAD — Park Christian opened their season with a road victory over Win-E-Mac Tuesday night.

Tanner Brunsberg and Jonah Williams posted 23 points each to spearhead the Falcons’ offense. Ethan Jorgensen added nine points and five steals.

The Falcons climbed to 1-0. Win-E-Mac fell to 0-1.
