WAYNE, Neb. — Minnesota State Moorhead led most of the way en route to an 82-71 win over Wayne State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's college basketball Friday night.
The Dragons had a strong first half, shooting 18-for-37 (48..6%) from the field while holding a 48-39 halftime lead. The Dragons shooting dipped in the second half, shooting just 33% from the field, but MSUM was able to take advantage of 17 turnovers by the Wildcats.
Starting guard Gavin Baumgartner led the Dragons with 24 points and nine rebounds. Jack Rusch added 20 points and hit three 3-pointers. MSUM went 26-for-34 (76.5%) from the free-throw line.
Jordan Janssen paced Wayne State (6-14, 3-8 NSIC) with 21 points and seven rebounds while shooting 10 of 11 from the field. Nate Mohr finished with 12 points and Ben Dentlinger hauled in a game-high 13 rebounds.
MSUM (10-7, 6-5) visits Sioux Falls, S.D., for a matchup against Augustana at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
