OMAHA, Neb. — Vinnie Shahid and Tyson Ward scored more than half of North Dakota State's points, as the Bison defeated Omaha 86-78 Wednesday night in Summit League men's basketball at Baxter Arena before 2,355 fans.

Shahid led the Bison (17-7, 8-2 Summit) with 24 points, knocking down 4 of 10 3-point attempts and 8 of 8 free throws. Ward was close behind with 22 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Ward shot 8 of 12 from the field and 6 of 9 from the free-throw line. Jared Samuelson scored 16 points and drilled 4 of 6 3-pointers.

Overall, the Bison shot well as a team, going 26-for-48 (54.2%) from the field, 11 of 25 (44%) from beyond the arc and 23 of 28 (82.1%) at the free-throw line.

KJ Robinson scored 20 points to pace the Mavericks (12-12, 5-4).
