A big week is on tap in local sports as Minnesota high school winter sports will begin games Thursday.
The WDAY Honor Roll salutes a couple of top performances from the past week, starting with the Devils Lake girls basketball team. The Firebirds who were a finalist for the state championship last year, have roared out of the gates to a perfect 5-0 start in 2021.
Roseau's Katie Borowicz was a high school senior just one month ago. Sunday she scored her first basket for the University of Minnesota. Borowicz saw her first game action for the Gophers, she also registered a pair of steals and an assist in Minnesota's loss to Penn State.

Fargo's Tyler Kleven had a remarkable week. He was a part of the United States' gold medal winning team at the World Junior Hockey Tournament last week in Edmonton. Kleven departed and re-joined his University of North Dakota teammates and promptly scored a goal in his first game back Sunday night at Colorado College. The goal coincided with Kleven's birthday.
Welcome back, Tyler Kleven!
