KINDRED, -- The rivalry between Central Cass and Kindred took another twist on Monday night, as the two teams met in Kindred as the first and second ranked teams in Class B girls basketball.
In a thriller, the top ranked Squirrels took the lead with one minute to go and held off the Vikings, 59-58.
Decontee Smith hit a midrange jumper with just under 60 seconds to play to make it 57-56, a lead the visitors never gave back.
Junior guard Rylie Holzer and sophomore guard Tori Richter led Central Cass with 11 points, respectively. Smith put in 10 points.
Abby Duchscherer and Terryn Johnson each paced Kindred with 16 points a piece.
Central Cass remains unbeaten on the year at 8-0. It'll head back home to play Carrington on Thursday.
Kindred loses just it's second game of the season, dropping two contests by a combined two points. The Vikings, at 6-2, will host Oak Grove on Thursday night.
