MOORHEAD — The Minnesota State Moorhead women's basketball team advanced to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament title game earlier this week for the first time since 2007.
The Dragons (26-6) lost 52-48 to Minnesota-Duluth in the championship game Tuesday, March 5, at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. MSUM, which won the NSIC regular-season crown, is expected to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II tournament. The NCAA selection show is Sunday, March 10.
The Dragons have won 20-plus games for four consecutive seasons. MSUM earned victories against Upper Iowa in the first round, Winona State in the quarterfinals and Sioux Falls in the semifinals to reach the NSIC tournament championship game.
