MINOT - Two teams will make their debut in the North Dakota Class B boys championship game Saturday night with the opportunity to make history in Minot.
Second seeded Shiloh Christian will play for a first title after the Skyhawks knocked off third seeded Richland, 64-51. Senior Canan Fagerland made six three-pointers as did Cole Walth to lead Shiloh to the state title game. 6'9 senior Macauley Young added 13 points and 25 rebounds as well. Richland was led in scoring by Cole Myers 18 points. Carter Lingen chipped in 14 as the Colts lost for just the third time all season.
Shiloh had never advanced beyond the semifinals in school history, its last appearance a 2016 loss to Our Redeemer's.
They will face Thompson in the title game after the Tommies survived a 68-65 overtime win over fourth seed Bishop Ryan. The Tommies (25-1) were led by senior Cadyn Schwabe's 22 points, including six made free throws to pace them. Hayden Overby added 21 points. The Lions dynamic duo of Mason Hedberg and Ben Bohl were tremendous as usual, scoring 23 points each. Bishop Ryan was looking to advance to the title game for the second straight season, the Lions last state championship was 1994.
Bishop Ryan and Richland will play in the third place game at 6, followed by Shiloh Christian and Thompson shortly after eight at the Minot State Dome.
