MINNEAPOLIS - The Perham, Minn., basketball player who collapsed during a game last week remains in critical but stable condition, and his family has set up a fund to alleviate medical costs not covered by insurance.
According to a statement from the University of Minnesota Medical Center at Fairview:
Zach Gabbard was moved on Sunday to the cardiovascular intensive care unit at the facility.
His family is not ready to speak publicly, but expressed gratitude to the nurses and doctors who resuscitated Gabbard on the basketball court.
"We would also like to thank Zach's friends for supporting us while he is sitting on the bench," the family said in the statement. "We know he hopes to earn his starting spot back soon. Your prayers are appreciated."
